Life happens, miscommunications and weirdness!
I had a very strange week, life presented me with unusual twists. I had my Doctors office call me up and tell me that I should make an appointment to get my thyroid checked since it was a little low when they did the test 10 months previously.
WHAT??????????? isn’t that something they should have shared with me? i did not even know they did a thyroid test. they did call then to let me know the results of the other tests they did. I was a little shocked. then Soccer had started for my 5 year old, but no one told us. so I had to track down people to get that sorted. YIKES!! then a friend suddenly passed, that was also a shock. so I was ready for the weekend to be a bit on the less crazy side.
On Saturday I had a hair appointment in the city. After being stuck in traffic for an hour, I treated myself to a little retail therapy. I found a great dress and very pretty green shoes!! very happy!! then off to get pretty hair. my stylist is also a good friend. we were room mates when she took her training. We lived in this horrible but with character basement suite. we did have a lot of fun!! there was a too much tequila incident and I ended up with extreme baby bangs. oops!! took a few more shots of tequila to dull the horror of it all. after giving me awesome hair we went for supper. our restaurant of choice that evening was an upscale place where they cook food I have trouble pronouncing and would never make for myself, seems way to complicated, but I am really glad that they do!! as we sat there enjoying our crab cakes, i had to grin. was a far cry from our dingy basement suite, when we were short of funds, but big on fun!!! Now we both have wonderful families, successful businesses, and extreme happiness. very sweet!!
the next day my family and I packed some luggage and headed to Calgary for a little water sliding at a hotel and to go to the ZOO the next day. more fun!!! we got lost getting to the hotel, my mapquest directions were wrong. oh well, I tuned into my wilder party girl self who could always find the Ranchmans bar, and voila our hotel was only 2 blocks from there. cool!! The hotel was really great, the pool is a salt water pool, very nice, and the hot tub was actually hot!! we had such a blast!! one of the perks of the hotel was that kids eat free in the restaurant. so while they had chicken fingers, my husband and I decided to live a little risky and order unusual dishes. ( actually the menu was all unusual dishes) he ordered the Bison, and upon receiving it we had to ask the Waitress what all the other stuff was. hahahah!! who knew they made little potato bread things called gnochhi( no idea- just guessing here) he also had to read the menu later to see what else he had injested, because he just was not sure. My meal was a Chicken cassoulet lentil thing. umm…. it was OK ( well not really) the munchkins fries tasted better. we decided it was a great learning experience and well…. we will stick to red necked type meals that include beef and with fries as an option. LOL!! we did have a great laugh at our experience.
as we were driving down Macleod Trail to the zoo, i had a little trip down memory lane, remembering my party girl days~ trips to the Longhorn bar( yes, it was a looong time ago, that bar does not even exist anymore) running into friends there who were also on a road trip from Edmonton. Coming up with surveys when we were not busy dancing. One of the fun ones was asking the boys if they take a peek at each other when using the urinals. we got a lot of interesting answers. hey!! we were just wondering…. I also had a little flashback of being on the stage at the Ranchmans belting out a tune i believe it was ~ Mamas don’t let your cowboys grow up to be babies~ ahhh such fun, there was a whole lot of dancing, alcohol and memories made.
the Zoo was amazing. we saw some very cool animals, walked a lot and enjoyed the sunshiny day!! I accidentally got close to a snake cage and scrambled out of there very fast. YIKES!!!!! i did get to pet a turtle named flapjack there too. so wonderful!!! favorites of the day, monkeys, the white buffalo named blizzard and the giraffes and the Koalas. it is so fabulous that we have such an amazing Zoo so close by. now, I want to go on a safari~ how fun would that be to see all the animals in their natural habitat. COOL!!! our next adventure will be to go back to the Wildlife park at Innisfail it is a good one, you can see the park via Golf cart. nice!!! lions, tigers and bears Oh my!!!
